When we were comfortable and silent, she lit the candle. The whole atmosphere changed in our kindergarten room.\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_id=&#8221;highlight-box&#8221;][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;b16strong_blue&#8221;]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She showed us the book, explained what we were going to read and started in her soothing voice, as if she were whispering. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We were mesmerized. At the end of the tale, one of us could blow the candle out. Thanks to her, reading has become an instant comfort zone to me, easing my mind whenever I needed to distance myself from the everyday troubles and difficulties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With 8 September being <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Literacy Day<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ILD for short),<strong> we would like to encourage you to reflect on your reading habits,<\/strong>\u00a0 your favourite stories and to introduce new habits into your everyday life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>In 2021, ILD focuses on literacy teaching and learning in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis,<\/strong> on the role of educators, and on changing pedagogies. As parents and teachers, we gained valuable experience during this overwhelming period, faced new challenges and experimented with new ways of improving our kids\u2019 literacy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>These new ways of reading might be worth implementing, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So here are three tips for you to increase reading a habit:<\/span>[\/vc_column_text]<ul class=\"ts-list ts-list-style-icon ts-list-icon-color-skincolor ts- ts-icon-skincolor ts-list-textsize- ts-list-icon-library-fontawesome\"><li><i class=\"ts-skincolor fa fa-caret-right\"><\/i>  <span class=\"ts-list-li-content\"><strong>Candle-lit storytelling session:<\/strong> schedule a simple relaxing 15 minutes for you and your kids. <\/span><\/li><li><i class=\"ts-skincolor fa fa-caret-right\"><\/i>  <span class=\"ts-list-li-content\"><strong>Reading challenge (daily reading): <\/strong>track your kids\u2019 weekly reading progress. <\/span><\/li><li><i class=\"ts-skincolor fa fa-caret-right\"><\/i>  <span class=\"ts-list-li-content\"><strong>Weekly visit to an antique bookshop or library: <\/strong>let your kids choose what they would like to read.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"ts-vc_btn3-container  primaryButton ts-vc_btn3-center\"><a class=\"ts-vc_general ts-vc_btn3 ts-vc_btn3-size-md ts-vc_btn3-shape-round ts-vc_btn3-style-flat ts-vc_btn3-weight-yes ts-vc_btn3-color-skincolor\" href=\"https:\/\/bookrclass.com\/get-started\/\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\">Get Started<\/a><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To \u00c1gi n\u00e9ni who made reading a comforting ritual for me.
