Measures fall on an intuitive scale, with beginners or easy texts at the bottom and moving up as students and texts advance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lexile scale is a developmental scale ranging from beginning learner measures below 0L (at most BR 400L) to above 1600L for advanced abilities. The higher the learner\u2019s Lexile measure, the greater their ability to read English. If they get a question right, the next one will be a bit harder; if they miss it, the following question will be a little easier. This way, the test quickly zeroes in on their exact level of proficiency without overwhelming or underchallenging them.
